When powering up my friends IMAC it ask for a username and password.
There is none and my friend just clicks on login and then every thing works find.
It's just a pain each time to do this. Is there a way to remove this step.
He tells me that this just started to do this and that it was not there when he 1st got the Mac.
Any ideas?

Whaty do you mean by powering up? switch it on? If you mean the login screen for osx, you can change that: Open System Preferences -> Accounts. At the left bottom there is "login options". Click on that one and select "Automatically log in as"

OK. He tells me that when he gets to login option it's gray out.
He then clicks on the pad lock which ask for a PW.
The Password that used to work does not work anymore.
The hint take hem back to the password that is not working.
Is there any way to remove the PW?
