Power mac 7600 password crack?

I have a Power Mac 7600/132 which is running OS 7.x. I can't fully boot it up because it has a password. Is there any way to crack the PW or must I just reformat and reinstall the OS?

As I remember the password is stored in the file sharing preferences. If you boot from another system folder, such as a floppy or CD, you should be able to find the pref file and move it to the trash. (Don't empty the trash yet.) Restart from the HD, the computer will create a new pref file without a password. If everything worked right you can empty the trash now.

If U didn't know, to start up from a cd hold down the "C" key when U turn your mac on.

If you won't miss any files, reinstalling the OS is probably best.
