I know this is a silly question, but here goes. What is the consensus regarding powering down the Mac Pro. Does it hurt to leave it in the sleep mode?

It shouldn't hurt to leave it in sleep mode. I leave my PCs on all day long and I've never had any issues; and none of them are set to go to sleep, they stay always on...

If you're using it on a constant basis then it's actually better for the PSU to just leave it on. I use my system everyday hours at a time so I just leave it on. Powering on your system everytime causes more wear and tear on it's PSU.

I agree. I almost never turn off my computers. My server has an uptime now of almost 4 months!
