Before answering as many of the questions as I can, I must inform you that the new owners of Mac-Forums have decided to close us down on 31 December 2017. So there's not much time left. A Desktop. It is called an iMac and comes in two sizes, 21.5 and 27 inch. Don't know where you live, but if the Sates, then it's easy to sub us for uk. No need. The iMac, as you will see has it's own monitor built into the computer and it's HiRes; but you can use your Dell monitor as a second monitor if you wish. . Yes . No. . Yes. You may need to adjust to one or two key settings. Yes and No - You can buy a version of Office for Mac or a 365 subscription service and use that. Or, if you want the whole Windows experience, this can be achieved in 2 ways - running Windows in a virtual environment or using Bootcamp where can boot into Mac OS or Windows OS. . No. See above. . Yes. Depending on your requirements, you might need adapters, but USB ports do with all iMacs. Yes. Not enough space or time to go into all the details. Apart from transferring them, I should tell you that Apple can read Word/Excel/PowerPoint natively. I think that covers most of your questions. Do please visit the Apple Store site. Also, within our own Forums here, go to the Home page and look for the Switchers' Thread. This is for people like yourself.
