Please Help! Download prblm in Safari after update. Thanks.

After getting a new job six months ago, I bought a Macbook Air. It's great, and I just updated Lion last night (in addition to iOS5).

Now, whenever I visit a website, safari automatically downloads files in the download manager even without clicking on the link. I was browsing reddit and clicked on a url for a .gif and instead of opening a new tab or window, the DL manager starts and I get the file as a series of images in preview. I'm feeling frustrated.

THis is my first post, glad to be a member and appreciate any help.

P.S. This problem also occurs on many sites. For instance, while searching on this forum for the answer, safari automatically downloaded twenty or thirty files (all .gif)

Try using a different browser like google chrome?
