Usually, if a drive has a faulty lens, then trying to burn a disk will reveal it well in advance of a reading fault.I had a Pioneer 105R in an external optical drive. It simply couldn't handle modern optical media, but I was made aware of that when trying to burn, I never got as far as a reading failure. I replaced the drive with a 112D.Which leads me to suggest that you might like to consider an external optical drive as an alternative to your present internal drive.</blockquote>
