photoshop confusion

Hello, my name is Will I'm new to the forum, I got my first macbook last week and I'm really enjoying it, i found the switch from PC alot easier than i anticipated and i now realise what all the hype was about. Anyway the plan was to transfer my old photoshop CS3 from my PC to my macbook and knowing nothing about computers I found it was a PC only version (i know im an idiot). so im going to have to buy a new, mac version, probably CS4, my only problem is that on amazon there are a few options to choose from, some wildly more expensive than others, here are some links, please could someone point me in the right direction?

extended student edition:

Ignoring the Student edition, the difference between the Standard and Extended editions of PS CS4 is shown at image editing software | compare Adobe Photoshop CS4 editions.

Now the first link is the extended edition at a student discount, and if you are a student (would most likely have to prove it somehow) you can save a big chunk of change..otherwise, you'd have to look at the other options..and get the edition that makes the most sense with how you use PS..

Hey Will,

I'm new too. My 27" Imac will be here some time next week! I was just checking today on cross platform upgrade for photoshop Elements. The person I spoke with said that for the more expensive products they off a $75 dollar upgrade option through Adobe. I think you may get the education discount as well. You should check it out, much cheaper.

Not sure what you want to spend. I called adobe and I had to upgrade for cs3 to cs4 and what they did was send me a full ver of cs4 for the simple fact that you can't upgrade from pc to mac. But I only paid the upgrade price of 199.
