I am a little surprised that Photos does not seem to be functioning as I expected but I am unsure if it is just my expectations or lack of knowledge as I only ever used iPhoto as a storage device for the photos I take on my phone. I don't use a lot of editing features and mostly only used it as a storage system, locating my photos by using the All Photos view to locate the ones I want by working backwards. I do miss the dated blocks which could be easily renamed as events so when this OP said that downloads were not being listed as events I tried this process with some new photos and found that to be true. I then went to eject my iPhone 5s and noticed there was no eject button, so I opened a Finder window and was surprised to find it was not listed under Devices so I opened iTunes and after a short sync ejected it from there.
For a long time I and others on this forum not to mention industry opinion in general have constantly told us to eject devices and media before disconnection and now I see a situation which would seem to encourage people to do just the opposite.
Is this just me or others?
