Here one I took today... Not my best, but I am experimenting with high dynamic ranges so this is my first of many to come. Nikon D50 18-55 f/11 I believe

Spent most of saturday exploring a new part of my favourite river, just coming into autumn over here so getting cold and a few heavy showers passed, which I enjoy more than anything. Caught two nice brown trout, the second being very rewarding to watch unfold.

Photo taken Saturday 14th April, using a Canon EOS 5D with 100mm f2.8 lens, enjoy.

Very nice man. Full frame dslr is the way to go. Is the 100mm the macro or just the standard f2.8?

The caption for that photo should be:

"Right I've got the gear, I'm standing in the river, what's next in this fishing for dummies guide?"

Well, trout are an amazing fish to catch, very wise and just as amazing to watch them patrol their little piece of river. They feed very selectively sometimes and thats part of the art, matching what they are eating to a certain fly. So it pays to stop and figure it all out every now and then. Also this time of year is when the bigger fish from the main river head up the smaller rivers to breed, and I was hoping to sight one or two, but I didnt see any, hopefully next weekend.

The lens used was the EF 100mm f2.8 Macro, a super sharp lens and pretty cool for macro work too.

I love how the rocks make your eyes follow the depth perspective.

I had posted this photo in the wrong thread, so here it is again.

When I reattached the same photo, it will not open big, now.

Two more from the self portrait shoot. I would love to have taken some shots of the fish I caught and released, but its too difficult to get decent photos when by yourself, as I prefer to put the health of the fish being released as the top priority. maybe this weekend I'll have another person with me to capture the trout in all their majesty.

MacBurg your Web site is absolutely amazing.
I love the intro. Did you set up the Web site yourself?
I am also curious, where the photo of that very narrow and tall island was taken.

I had a friend design it for me as he specializes in flash animation, the colored aperture is my business logo, so I wanted to carry it through to the website. Its just a simple gallery site that I can show to clients really.

I assume your referring to the island I have named boob island, its a 30 minute blast in a boat up the coast from Waihi Beach, my home town. We do a lot of fishing around that area, but near the island is great for saltwater flyfishing and diving.

Took this at a wedding I helped shoot last Saturday. It puts a smile on my face. :black:
