I greatly admire your knowledge and contribution to our Forums, so I hope you don't take offence when I suggest that this "offer" is "too good to be true". I would be mighty suspicious of such.

But - genuine discounted offers do come along now and again. I would just suggest that you confirm that the 'Source" of this offer is reliable and that there are no "catches" such as $5 for the download but to get all the the options requires more $$.

Caution is my guide.

It's part of the latest BundleHunt bundle deal, and it is entirely legitimate:

https://bundlehunt.com/bundle/2023-epic-fall-macos-bundle/

The deal will actually cost you $6. The developer of PDFmaster is:

https://www.cisdem.com/pdfmaster.html

So, what's the catch? Why isn't everyone using this product?

I haven't played with this product in particular. But most bundle deals in the past have included a similar PDF offering. Those products only offered the same PDF manipulation features that Preview already does for free. Maybe with some really crappy open source OCR feature added. There may be no ability to erase any text already on the page and replace it with similar looking text. There may be no forms features. Etc.

There is a free demo of this product that you can download from the Cisdem site that I cited above. I recommend that you try the free demo before you purchase the product. If it really does turn out to be a true PDF editor (most of which cost about $130) with all of the cool features that I mentioned, for only $6, please tell us right away!

Appreciate your comment, but this is an offer by th current Bundle Hunt which I posted in the forum.
As I understand it, software download comes directly from the developer's site.

I find your post a little bit misleading.

For one, the regular price of that software is $90.- so roughly in line with other non-Adobe pdf editors, the $5.- (or $6.-) is essentially a super promo.
As a Tech/Mkt guy I think the company realizes they need to somehow make an impact to stand out from all the other pdf editors.
I have tried many of the ones we discussed here, mostly the demo only, and haven't found one that can handle the few things I need to do with a pdf.
Even Acrobat 9 Pro gave me problems with pdf size reduction and OCR lately - probably because my Adobe version is too old.

I'm currently looking through the Bundle Hunt offers to see if there is anything else that might be useful. anyone see any software there they really like.

I'm going to try PDFMaster, the $5 or $6.- is obviously not the issue but I didn't want to waste my time if the software is crap.
I saw one review yesterday which was pretty positive - but can one believe it?

There was nothing misleading about it. True PDF editors can erase an existing bit of text in a PDF and replace it with other text that looks like it belonged there. They also usually include high quality OCR, forms features, etc. Those types of products almost uniformly cost around $130 if they are worth having as a replacement for Adobe Acrobat Pro. I've been tracking true PDF editors for a very long time. My MacAttorney user group members, full of attorneys, live and die using PDF's, so I try to keep on top of everything available.

Even the $90 version of PDFmaster, from my past experience, is a POS. It might be worth having for $6, you will have to decide for yourself. As I said, there is a free demo.

At one time, many years ago, these bundle deals were awesome. Usually you could always find one or two gems in the bunch at a fabulous price. Unfortunately I haven't seen a single gem in any bundle deal, anywhere, in quite a long time. Bundle deals these days usually consist of products mostly from little known developers, many from the far east, and mostly they do things that you can already do with the Mac OS, or with free software from somewhere else. Some actually (technically illegally), repackage free open source products with a slightly different graphic interface. Some of this dreck might be worth having if the price is low enough, but don't expect any of it to be a gem.
