PDF can't be opened

Dear all, it's such a shame. I am searching for jobs now, and the fact that converting my Word doc to PDF in Mac poses a huge problem for me.

Many of the companies revert that they can't open the PDF, and I have sent so many out already. Some companies probably would probably trash my application.

Anyway, does anyone face this problem as well? Usually I would either print and save as PDF, or 'Save As' from Word to PDF.

To me, it sounds like the companies probably want .doc format anyway.

Invest in Office 2011 as it is the business standard suite.

The question - is the problem due to dysfunctional software (e.g., wrong add-ons or incompatibility)?

It's quite unlikely that PC users can't open Mac saved PDF. But this is what's happening now.

I've never experienced that. Do you know if they actually HAVE the ability to open a pdf?

Many places simply do not accept PDF's these days. Their automated tools are all designed to read keywords out of .doc files.
