Being a recent switcher, I am a little paranoid. When I had my PC if there was an emernency ie.HD failure or I forgot my password or data recovery I would use knoppix, Ophcrack, and other utilities. My question is is there apps like that for the mac? I know that I can run linux on the mac just pop in the CD and your done. But will these utilities work? Do I even need them? I don't have the $$$ to buy an external HD so that's not an option. Any suggestions are appreciated!

well if you have a HD failure, you're pretty much out of luck on any system.

for forgotten passwords, you're ok as long as you have your disks that came with the system.
