just got panther, haven't installed it yet... i know i'm gonna do a clean install, but i was wonderin how i should partition the drive, if at all. i've heard some people say 10GB for the OS, another partition for applications, etc, etc. what do u guys suggest? i do a lot of video work, but i have a second hard drive i use as my scratch disk. is it good to have a separate partition for apps? does that even work, or do apps need to be on the same partition as the OS? sorry for all the questions, i just wanna know if there's a better way of doin things that i might not know about. thanks all :D

Is there a particular reason you want to partition? I have never partitioned mine and it works fine.

Yeah, I just have a big 60 GB partition on my iMac. The main reason you wouuld want to partition would be if you wanna install Linux on a partition.

ok thanks, sounds good. i wasn't really sure whether i wanted to, and i don't think i will. i haven't had any problems with the one big partition thus far, so i'll just do it the same way for panther. thanks for the replies!
