I have heard from alot of people that the palm rests on their MBPs was corroding, and didn't look good. They also said Apple's warranty didn't cover it. So, I was going to get the MarWare Cover, but then I heard on these forums that it leaves a REALLY bad sticky residue if you ever take it off. So my question is, are there any palm rest guards besides the MarWare one?

It's definitely not corroding, because it's not made out of metal as the rest of the casing is. It's just good, old plastic painted to look like it. My guess is that it's just ground in dirt that people are seeing. A little Mr. Clean Magic Eraser should restore it to like-new again.

It's not dirt or anything sticking to the case, it's the finish chipping from the case. No way to clean it, using a product or trying to scrape these "dirt spots" off will just make it worse.

They began to show on my powerbook about a year or so after purchase. I always use the track-pad, so they're showing on the bottom right edge. If anything they add a little character, I've never tried the macware pads or anything similar. I think they would be nice though, cut down on heat and protect the finish, until you take them off and are left with residue. It's a lose-lose street my friend.

Still, the glue residue is only temporary, the chipping is permanent. I guess it depends on if you're planning to sell your computer anytime down the road.
