Graphic converter also does basic paint functions and comes free with macs.

If you want something more advanced use the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) - almost as good as photoshop (as good is you get all the plugins available).

Great tip! Artrage is really cool and does a far better job of recreating "real" paint than MS paint...

I wouldn't personally compare ArtRage to paint but it is a very interesting program

I bought the latest version a while ago and it is worth it even if you just like playing around

It has full support for graphics tablets and works perfectly with my Wacom Graphire 4

This isn't really a subsitute for Corel's Painter but it can be very rewarding

Really a nice thing to support so if you like it, get it!

Currently i've used it for backgrounds for photoshop pieces and laying down basic tones before I move to photoshop and/or painter to build on an image further
