- Late 2014 Mac Mini: 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel i7, 16Gb 1600 MHz DDR3, OWC Aura Pro X2 2Tb SSD
Hello all,
I have a late 2014 Mac Mini with 16Gb of memory. I'm planning to swap the fusion drive for a SSD. I want to get the fastest drive possible, as my main app is Pro Tools, and I cannot add any additional memory. I'm considering the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD. So my questions are:
(1) Is the higher performance worth the extra cost? The specs say the sustained sequential R/W is up to 550Mb (R) / 530Mb (W). Also the sequential 4K R/W is up to 100,000 IOPS (R) / 90,000 IOPS (W).
(2) Are OWC drives reliable and a quality product? In the past I've use Crucial and SanDisk drives, but never OWC.
Thank you in advance for any help. I really appreciate it.
