I have a problem sending emails with the Mail app. I have been using Mail for years with the same email address but since I upgraded to Yosemite I have sometimes had problems - sometimes it seems to automatically change the port settings for my outgoing SMTP server and then says the server is offline so my outgoing emails stay in the outbox. It becomes very time consuming going into the settings, changing the port settings, hoping it will work this time, quit Mail and restart, restarting the computer ... sometimes successful sometimes not. For the past few days I have had outgoing mail that i cannot send from my macbook pro and have sent more urgent emails from my ipad. There is nothing wrong with the incoming mail and nothing wrong with the SMTP server as emails sent from my ipad are going normally. Should I try another email program? if so which one? Does anybody have experience with Sparrow or others?

I think I have found a solution. I installed Airmail 2 and it is fine with my POP and gmail email addresses. Airmail was easy to set up and it has copied my old emails from the past approx 7 months Send and receive work well in both accounts and it has not stuffed up the port settings. Bye bye Mail.app.
