I have two 500 MHz G3 iBooks (version = 22.15) with 256MB of memory that need to be upgraded to OS X Jaguar. I boot up off the Mac OS X Installation CD 1 and initialize/erase the hard disk drive (and make sure it's checked for OS 9 compatibility) via Disk Utility. I manage to install Mac OS X Installation Disk 1, but when it asks me to reboot the machine (which I'm able to do), the screen reappears with the grey dark apple logo on a light grey background. However, the machine will not budge past that point. I've tried wiping the hard drive, running Disk Utility, zapping the PRAM, resetting the Firmware, as well as tried to reinstall the OS. Each plan of attack ends up with the same result, the screen reappears with the grey dark apple logo on a light grey background. Might you kind people have any suggestions?
