I was surprised to find that Dark Mode on my new iPhone 16e actually saves power;
"Dark mode can save battery life on iPhones, particularly on models with OLED screens like the iPhone X and later. This is because OLED displays turn off individual pixels when displaying black, reducing power consumption compared to displaying white pixels.58
For iPhones with LCD screens, the difference in power consumption between dark and light modes is less significant. LCD screens have a constant backlight, so the power usage is similar regardless of the color displayed.47
Therefore, on OLED-equipped iPhones, dark mode can lead to noticeable battery savings, while the impact is minimal on older iPhone models with LCD screens."
As a habitual Dark Mode user on both laptop and phone I was pleasantly surprised to discover this little known fact.
