Good deal...and no problems.:) Technically you don't need Lion first. What you need is access to the Mac App Store (so you can download Yosemite). And to get access to the Mac App Store...you need a minimum of OS 10.6.6 (which is Snow Leopard...the OS version before Lion). Snow Leopard also costs $19.99. So it's your choice whether to get 10.6 or 10.7 for $19.99. But...the BIG difference is...10.6 was the last OS to come on DVD. So if you like having your OS installer on DVD...10.6 is the last one. After installing 10.6 (and updating to 10.6.8...the latest version of 10.6)...then you will have access to the Mac App Store to download Yosemite. But...realize that going from OS 10.5 to 10.10 is FIVE OS versions newer. This is kind of like going from a 1970's car to a 2015 car. If you currently have important installed apps with 10.5...I can guarantee you 100% none of them will run with 10.10 (Yosemite). You will have to purchase newer versions of them to work with Yosemite. If you don't have any current important installed apps...no problem.:) If what you mean is could you completely erase the HD...and do a fresh install of the OS (Yosemite)...yes...that can be done.:) - Nick
