off-the-wall chromebook question

just simply for the sake of asking, what do you guys think about the chromebooks? the $200 one to be specific..I realize this is a mac forum, but ****, figured i'd ask.. I own a macbook core duo 1.8ghz 1gb ram the performance between the two, in your opinion, would be great.

My Son's wife uses one all the time and loves it. It's great for email, and piddling around using the Google apps that it comes pre-loaded with.

Yeah what ^^^^ said. It is basically an internet and email computer and if that is all you want it is a cheap way to get those services.

With a Chromebook, internet goes down, then nothing works. Many try to say all apps are saved locally. Not on any Chromebook I have seen tested. I would never get one for that reason. If that has changed, then I would like to see proof the apps are all on the drive.
