I was just wondering what Apple uses for their OEM 1gb (2x512) ram sticks. All the posts/pics I see online of ram chips by Apple are Hynix branded ram sticks.

I have a 1gb black Macbook but when I took out the ram stick it was a Nanya branded stick.

Just curious. Thanks.

Umm... No they're not. Just like the processor isn't made by Apple either but by Intel.

I guess no one knows. Anyone with a 1gb Macbook care to check?

Apple does not make hardware - they buy it from other companies.

i would assume it just varies on stock and who they can get the ram from for cheapest and in large amounts.

You hit the nail on the head. Same thing goes for HD's and Optical drives. They just use whatever they can get the best deal on.
