If it's an external HD, it could very well be permissions on the drive, folder or file.  Given that it saved to the Desktop, which is a folder on the internal drive under his user name, that eliminated the internal drive, leaving either a folder issue under the login name or, if it's an external drive dhugh9 is using, then it could be still the drive or folder.
