Notifications on Mac OSX

Is there a way to get the same notifications (news, sports, etc) on my Mac that I get on my Iphone ? There used to be a few programs that let you do that, now they are no longer available int he App Store.

You can get Notifications through your favorite websites usually? Like MSNBC, or local stations. Same with major sports leagues or individual teams. Go to the website with your browser, and they usually ask to send you Notifications. There is also, depending on the OS version, the Apple News app.

Which version of macOS are you running? If you're not sure, look under the Apple menu in the upper left corner of the screen and choose "About this Mac".
