Just FYI, the Norton Security suite has been fouling Mac's Time Machine incremental backups. The issues have been going on for a couple of months now, without much response from Norton. The problem seems particularly acute for those trying to use Time Machine to make backups to network attached storage (NAS). The only solution has been to uninstall Norton.

For more detail on the issue, go to Norton's own support site at https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-security-857-broke-time-machine-backup?page=3#comments , where you'll see extensive comments. You can also search the Norton Support Forums for "Norton Security 8.5.7 Broke Time Machine Backup "
