There haven't been any System Updates for weeks now. Is this normal? I remember downloading updates for Windows every few days before I switched, but on my MacBook the only time there have ever been any updates is the day I got it.

The reason Windows needs so many updates is because there are always new problems arising and things of that sort. There are few problems, or even no problems for Mac, so most updates just contain new software for applications. No worries, this is completely normal.
