Hey, im running 10.3.9 and want to disable my password (im the administrator). So what i do is clear my password in System Preferences>User Accounts. Then it tells me this : (see first attatchment)

I click OK and then it tells me this : (see seconds attatchment)

How can i disable the administrator password? I only awnt this so i dont have to type in my password everytime for authenticating things.

Thanks.

Oh yeah, and sorry for asking so many questiosn lately :S

For security and safety, this can't be done. The affect you want can be done by using root user (Never online as root please) type enable root user in Mac help for more info

Running as root (As whiteshark suggests) will let you do anything without authenticating. This is dangerous because there is nothing to prevent you from seriously messing up your system.

You could delete the OS, change settings that leave your system unusable, or give absolute power to any trojan horse program you download.

you can disable the password on any other accounts, but there must be AT LEAST one admin account.

thanks agian. but, i remember i changed my admin password to nothing before. I had it so when an authentication came up, i could leave the password feild blank and just click ok. Not sure how i did it though....

I'm guessing you did it from the command line before but I think somewhere along the line Apple changed the underlying unix admin tools to close a few security holes and maybe it is no longer possible.

Personally I reckon what you want to do is just plain crazy!
