No 60Hz option for external monitor

Hi all! I have a macbook pro 2019 and my MX34VQ stuck in 30 hz. Did you have a solution? im lookin all over the internet and no luck

- 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

Monitor: ASUS MX34VQ (it should support 100hz) but is just showing me 30hz and i can not change it.

How are you connecting to the monitor? HDMI? DisplayPort? USB-C adapter cable? USB-C hub?

USB-c hub, i tried these 2
- kingston nucleum (Nucleum)
- SATECHI (TYPE-C MULTI-PORT ADAPTER 4K WITH ETHERNET V2) (Type-C Multi-Port Adapter V2 | USB-C Adapters & Accessories)

If you look at the Tech Specs of the Satechi hub, you will see it clearly says HDMI up to 30hz. I imagine the Kingston hub is the same, virtually ALL of the hubs out there will drive 4k at 30 Hz. If you want to get to 60 Hz, you're going to have to go directly from the MBP to the monitor. So you will need a USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

Hi, first of all thank you for all the quick replies Raz0rEdge! Yeah i read that but the thing is that when i connect a 24 dell monitor it shows me 50hz (not 4k). Is this normal? so the only solution will be a usb-c to hdmi directly or a usb-c to DP directly?

The specs say 4k up to 30Hz, so if the Dell is running less than 4k, it might be able to drive at a higher rate. So if you drop the resolution down to the bare minimum, perhaps it will go to 100 Hz. But if you want to go directly up to 4k at up to 100 Hz, then you will likely have to go directly to the monitor, avoiding the hub.

I'm by no means an expert (though I pay one on TV) when it comes to this, but DisplayPort is a newer technology than HDMI and will support higher resolutions than HDMI. You might find that USB-C to DP is a more expensive cable than USB-C to HDMI.

Looking further at the monitor specs, it says HDMI(v2.0) x3, DisplayPort 1.2.

All of my research so far shows that you can drive up to 4k at 60Hz with either cable. If you want to go faster, you have to go with lower resolution.
