newbe w/question on spell check.....

How do you turn on spell check for other than Word files?
My Daughter's Mac 10.4 does not have e-mails with spell check mine, however does. Where does she have the option of turning the spell check on/off ?

It will be in Mails own preferences to turn of spelling as you type
