New with Mac..Need help.

Ok,ive had my mac for about 1 1/2 months.I bought a new hard drive for it and when I went to re install OS X it wouldnt see my new hard drive.I would get to the step where it asks me where I want to install it and it doesnt show anything.Im installing OS X 10.3.8 on a Powerbook G3 laptop.Can you guys give me a walkthrough or a site that lists the steps? Thanks.

you have to go to the disk utility and format the drive with apple's file system. I don't remember which menu its in, but when the setup program is loaded up, its the first one next to the "blue apple" (i think the menu is installer).

yea, installer>disk utility. are you sure you connected it correctly, and set it as master?
