New to Macs

I don't own a mac(yet). But have been curious as to looking into buying one. OS X just looks pretty cool to me. I'm running XP PRO right now, an this would mainly just be another system. What are the major differences in OS X and xp? Like what things can I do with a mac that I can't do with a pc? Or what things do better on a mac? Thanks

Well OS X is on the Unix mainframe which is incredibly stable.

File browsing with the Finder (OS X's version of Windows Explorer) is a breeze because of the easily categorization

No disk defragmenting necessary, no viruses, no spyware, built in spam filter in the OS mail program, built in popup blocker in the OS Internet browser.

Better intregration of the systems main programs (iTunes, iChat, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, Mail.app, Safari, Address Book, iCal)

Programs rarely freeze...no need to constantly reboot

Sleep mode actually works

I especially enjoy not having to constantly chase after patches against all the worms! It's a bizzare relief in being able to view any web site and see any e-mail!

Being virus free is worth enought
having a Unix laptop computer is amazing

How is gaming on macs? I know that halo, unreal 2k4, and a few other big names are out, but other than that, what is left?

There are a bunch of sims, a casino game, call to duty -- many more, I always check the games section at the Apple store when I go

Gaming on macs is absolutely pathetic. Don't even bother thinking of Mac if u do hardcore gaming. However, internet use is brilliant, and working with videos and audio is good. Stability is a bit better than XP.
