macOS 13.3, iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4, tvOS 16.4, WatchOS 9.4 all released today.

Downloaded macOS was about 4.8GB, took about 25 minutes to install. System seemed to reboot 5-6 times during the process. Spent a LOT of time in the "Preparing" stage.

iOS and iPadOS also long in the "Preparing" stage, booted several times (lost count because I was distracted by something).

Haven't done  Watch yet. They are always slow.

Make backups. I didn't have any issues, but make backups is always the first step.

EDIT: Also updates for Big Sur to 11.7.5 and Monterey to 12.6.4

That covers about every Apple device in the house except for two older iPads and one Powerbook. Guess what I'll be doing this afternoon?

Walked into SWMBO's office, told her there were updates to everything. Her reaction? "Get out of here." I retreated, will face the issue sometime when she isn't here...

I've updated my wife's iPhone 14 Pro, my iPhone 13 Pro and my iPad 12.9 - all without issue.

Each takes a longish time.

And I was worried I'd have nothing to do tonight! So what if it takes all night - sleep is so over rated!! :ROFLMAO:
(Just kidding on the sleep thing - at my age I need my beauty sleep!)

Updating the internal drive of the M1Mini went fine and fairly quickly. The clone of my Mini is refusing to update. When I try to enter the password in the Software Update pane the password isn't accepted. I know this is an admin password because I have to input the password to log in to the Mac. I think this is an ownership issue on the external drive but haven't been able to fix it yet.

You may have to boot from it. But the installation boots a couple of times, so you would need to set that external as the boot drive before starting the process, I think.

If I were you, I'd let it rest for a couple of days to see if anybody else has the same issue and finds a solution for you. Maybe stay up on EclecticLight website, maybe some others that stay current.

Tried booting from it using two different drive caddies but neither one worked. I think I am going to wait a bit and see what happens. I have another external drive with Ventura on it so I may try that to see if it updates properly.

I'm pretty sure Howard Oakley will try the external update soon and report on his success/failure. He also has a couple of virtual systems that may get updated, too, so it may get interesting.

For those still running Monterey, there was an update which took a long time (40+ minutes) on my Intel iMac and my wife's Intel MacBookPro. No problems re the update itself.

I posted the issue at EclecticLight and Howard answered:
This does sometimes happen with external bootable disks – the answer then is to install the new version to the drive using the full installer.
Howard.
But he also said he hasn't tried it yet.

I think I tried to download the full installer last night and when the installer ran I was unable to get it to accept my admin password. It occurs to me that I might have been booted from the problematic boot drive at the time though.

I'm going to boot from the internal drive that updated successfully and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the update I hadn't been to Howard's site yet to see what he had to say. I figured he needed a little more time and I needed a lot more caffeine.
