Man I'm loving the new iMac. I was just wonderning, when do they do those major, crazy renovations. Like, how often does Apple completely change the iMac? (like they did with iMac G3 then iMac g4 the iMac g5) :biohazard

About once every 18 months for a complete model re-design would be my guess.

actually i'm pretty sure it's been more than 18 months since the last complete redesign for the iMac... the G5 came out in 2003? that's my guess... so three years for a design is pretty good, and I think that the current design will stay for at least a few more years... the iMac is selling so well, why would Apple redesign something, unless it saves them money while still appealing to the consumer?

Apple's current iMac Design is a very perfectionised one, they won't change it unless they technically want to modify something (like if they invent ultra-thin Hard drives, then it would become a bit thinner etc.)

The iMac with a G5 chip inside came out in September of 2004, so i'ts been around for a year and a half now, not 3.

It's possible that Apple brings out a slightly revised model at WWDC this year, but I think they are happy with it right now, and will concentrate on bringing the notebooks up to a proper level.

I love the design as it is now. You can save a lot of desk space with one of these bad-boys. I dont see apple changing the design anytime soon since they just put the intel chips in them as of recent.
