I just bought a brand new iMac and found out it is a late 2013 model. I thought I was buying a 2014 model.

Where did you get it from and was the fact it was a earlier model reflected in the price?

Bought it from Best Buy and they said it was the latest that Apple ships out to them.

I guess the next one up is a 2014 model that goes for $2500 - Best Buy did not carry it.

You have the latest model. There is no difference between the late 2013 and 2014 release except for the retina model. If you didn't buy a retina iMac then you have a late 2013 purchased in 2014. You're OK.

I replaced my 2008 iMac. Where is a good place to try to sell it and how much are they worth?

Try eBay and if you get $200-250 good and well. If possible advertise with original install DVD after you erase the hard drive.
