Third time was a charm as far as getting a new imac to turn on!! Thanks for everyone’s help in restoring from Time Machine b/u! Having some difficulties in clearing out unnecessary files etc. I’ve been deleting unnecessary files. etc, BUT available storage doesn’t seem to be changing at all, i’ve backed up probably almost 100gb of data and deleted the files and cleared Trash with no real
change in Available storage space , what am I missing? It seems as I delete files the “Other” storage category is getting bigger and the Available storage is decreasing

Thanks in advance

The space is available to you once the Trash is emptied. It can take some time before that space shows up in the various places disk storage is reported. I think you can accelerate that by powering off, completely, then rebooting. But as I said, as soon as you delete the trash the space is available for you.

I think Jake and I are thinking along the same lines. Where are you looking to see the available space? It can be reported in several places in the system, and the numbers don't always match because they are counting things somewhat differently.
