Network is working but can't connect to internet!

I'm using a router for my connection.
Both Macs are running Panther and both can see one and other.
They are both configured exactly the same (apart from the IP addresses of course) with the router configuring the settings on each machine perfectly, yet only one can surf the net!

Just a bit stuck now, any ideas would greatly appreciated!

What kind of router is it. Please don't say NetGear or D-Link.....

An Origo 8400. However since I posted this question it's resolved itself. I actually replaced the cable with a cross over cable and it now works fine. Very bizzarre but working never-the-less. Still can't get it to connect with a normal Cat 5 cable. Any suggestions???

What's the difference between a Crossover cable, and a regular Cat 5?

A cross over cable at one end has the wires crossed. Whereas a normal cable would have the wires going straight thru. Looking at the plugs on both ends a straight thru cable the red wire would be in the same position. Whereas in a crossover cable the red wire maybe in blue position on one end.

The above is just an example.

Normally the only time you would need a cross over cable is if you are connecting two computers together or if you are connecting a router to a modem. The rest of the time you are using a striaght thru cable when yo uconnect a computer to a router.

A cross over cable is cat 5 cable wire so is a straight thru cable.

Here is another thought. Most of all Apple computer are auto sensing now. Meaning that if you connect using with the wrong type of cable, it will make the adjust and work.
