Need to send a fax

Hi all,

I need to send some sensitive info via fax. Unfortunately, there is no alternative to this. My preference would be to send from home if possible. This would require using a web based method, as I don't have the hardware, and no land line.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Sensitive and fax are polar opposites, but that aside. 😃

There are a few online faxing services, but you'll have to evaluate if they are worthy of your sensitive information.

FaxZero.com is a service where you can send faxes up to 5 faxes that are 3 pages or less for free daily.

Thanks. That's as far as I got as well. I was hoping there was someone with direct experience.

Whenever I've had to send faxes in the past, I'd used my work Fax machine. But now when folks ask for it, I just scan the documents and ask them for a secure email address or service to send them the info. Done with faxes.

Unfortunately, this isn't an option. Some businesses apparently aren't done with faxes. Does anyone else have any ideas/ experience?

A lot of libraries still have fax machines that you can use for a nominal fee. So check with your local one and see if you can fax your papers from there.

It's old now, but I wrote an article that details the fax services available, several of which are free if you have modest faxing needs:

https://tidbits.com/2016/10/07/srfax-and-other-internet-faxing-alternatives-to-maxemail/

The question is whether your content is on paper (and thus you need some way to scan it into digital format), or if it is already in digital format. If your content is already in digital format, things are easy...

There is a wonderful free fax site that allows a max of 2 faxes a day up to 14 pages each.

https://thefreefax.com/index.php

It is provided by SRFax, whose commercial services I regularly use for sending faxes.

If you're in the U.S.:
Do you have a friend or relative who works in a medical office? Most of them have secure FAX capabilities to meet HIPPA compliance rules. I've done this several times.

With a HIPAA compliant FAX, the data is secured until it gets to the recipient. Then, security is dependent on what the recipient does with the FAX.

I think banks & mortgage lenders have (or at least should have) secure FAX lines. Perhaps tax preparation services do as well.

Hope These Suggestions Are Helpful,
Paul

Do I do this and most of the other suggestions, most drugstore pharmacies still utilize fax machines and I would suspect keeping the included data as private as possible if that is such a big concern.

Yes, healthcare in general utilizes faxes for a lot of things. As someone in that business, I know first hand.
