Since upgrading to Catalina, I have to append ".local" to the server name in order to coonect to a Windows 10 PC (using Finder > Connect to Server). I can no longer connect to the server by clicking on Network / server_name in the Finder sidebar. Why is this and how can I revert to the way it worked in High Sierra?

Following up other forum posts I have tried adding ".local" to the (empty) search domains list in Network preferences .. DNS and have created a etc/nsmb.conf file but to no avail.

Thanks

Since upgrading to Big Sur the problem with networking to Windows where I had to append ".local" to the Windows PC name has disappeared. It looks like a Catalina bug now fixed.
