Hi everyone,

My hard drive crashed a couple days ago, took it to apple store and had a new one installed. They put snow leopard on it? Made no sense to me, but whatever. Anyways, I have a downloaded version of Lion that I want to install, but it won't let me because my hard drive is not formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). When I try to re format, all the options are greyed out. I can't do anything -- no partitions, no erase, no reformat.

What do I have to do to reformat/install lion?

Thanks!

You can't reformat a disk while it's mounted. You need to boot the machine with your install disk and reformat it that way. Or, burn the Lion download to a DVD and use it to boot the machine and do the formatting. Then install.
