Need help with imovie

I can't figure out two things:

Is there ready made music selection for garage band or some other source already on the mac that I can bring in as a soundtrack for imovie?

How do I save my imovie project? There's no "save project" option. And typically, can I save a short film on a flash drive?

First of all, which version of iMovie are you using?

There is an option for adding music from Garage Band, where that is depends on which version of iMovie you are using. However the only music that will be in there is stuff that you've created in Garage Band. I use music from my iTunes for soundtrack.

How do I save my imovie project?

iMovie automatically saves any thing that you do.

And typically, can I save a short film on a flash drive?

Yes, by using the Share option. Again, it depends on which iMovie you are using as to how you do that.

Also, what does it mean when you choose a theme? It doesn't seem to do anything!

It adds a "Theme" to your Project, by adding set transitions and graphics to the Project. You won't see anything until you add video clips to the Project.

I choose theme and I don't see it having any effect. What does it do exactly?

Is there a way to get ready made generic music into imovie? My students won't have cds for the type of music they need for their films.

What do you mean by that? You can add music as any mp3 file and probably other formats, but I only ever use mp3.

At what point does imovie put in that graphic?

What I mean by the music question is that if the kids don't have a cd to download, can I get ready made music easily to put in as a soundtrack? I discovered the "jingles" feature. What if they have music on their phone? Is there an easy way to get it into imovie?
