Need help installing Windows 8.1 on late 2009 iMac 21.5 inch

Hey guys so i need some help with boot-camp. I want to install WINDOWS 8.1 on my iMac late 2009 21.5 inch , i have boot camp 5.1.3. How can i install it on my iMac? i need to know ASAP!!!!! Please help!!!

You are using a CD of Windows 8.1? You will not be able to use a thumb drive etc on any Mac that came originally with an optical drive.

no i was trying to use the thumb drive. but anyways if i have a windows 8.1 dvd, how would i install it? and what about the drivers?

Read carefully. You cannot do it. Buy a CD version and use that if your DVD is a branded generic disc such as for use with a Dell only etc. Then go into BootCamp and print and read the guidelines.

Thanks a lot for all your response guys , but I want to install windows 8.1 on a LATE imac 2009. When I run bootcamp it says it only supports windows 7 and has drivers for that particular windows. That's where I need the help. Any of you out there own a imac late 2009-mid 2010 and running windows?

Did you open the link above and "read" the 1st paragraph at all?

Which quite clearly states:

Boot Camp Apple ships with Lion only support Windows 7, but you can still use the Boot Camp Assistant Wizard to easily install Windows 8 to your Mac natively.

BootCamp 5.1 is quite capable of installing Windows 8 even though it may only say Win 7 is supported - due to Win 8 not even having been released at the time your version of BootCamp came out.

But, you will likely need the DVD version of Windows to do it on a machine that has an optical drive.
It would use the same steps as it does to install Win 7.

Alright thanks ! I read it but I was just confused because my 2014 MacBook Air bootcamp was quite different from the late 2009 imac even tho they are the same version. Also have any of you who owns a MacBook Air or older MacBook Pro wanted to or did turn their silver bezel glossy black somehow? Lol I kind of want to try it out!

That's right, at least until you get Windows 8.1 up and running. Why you're even bothering with Windows 8 or 8.1 is beyond me.... The Windows 10 preview is free and looks - works a lot better than Windows 8. And Windows 10 will be free for owners of Windows 7.

Really?? I didn't know that! I have watched some windows 10 videos but to me it seems like a typical windows with start menu but windows 8.1 was a little bit different/unique to me personally. The theme and the squred boxes were a bit more appealing. And just wondering if I do decide to get the windows 10 , would I have any problems running small games or any applications?
