Hi everyone!

I'm currently running Windows Vista Ultimate on an Acer Aspire 9423WSMI

I'm sick of nothing working with Vista (i know it's new and ll that jazz, but it's not much dif than XP) and am looking to make the switch to a Macbook Pro!I'll most likely be picking one up around September (yes i know it's quite a bit away but i'm very excitied at the prospect of owning a mac as i love my Product Red iPod Nano (2nd gen)

I'll just be using it for generally downloading, web surfing, encoding the odd video and trying to learn how 2 do vector pics n stuff.......and yes ofcourse for the cool factor as Mac has!

So i'm looking for some advice, and wondering if aonyone can answer my queries;

1) When is Leopard out, and if it's around when i'm picking one up.....is it worth the extra wait??
2) How do i go about getting a "Student Discount" as i'm a University Student and see apple offer the free 3 year warranty and discounted prices.
3) Does the macbook pro only come in silver, or are there other colours??
4) I've never used a mac before, so what processor and how much ram would u recommend i get?
5) What's the battery life on a 15" MBP like?

Hopefully you guys can help me "Make the switch from the dark side"

1) Leopard will be out in Oct. IMO~ no reason to wait, the current OS is great!
2) Start here: (CLICK!)
3)Only silver
4)Any MBP (or even Macbook) will do more than what you seem to require. I like to max RAM, just in case:D
5) It is rate (per apple) at 5 hrs of battery life (YMMV). More info HERE

6).. WELCOME to the forums! :D

Vista somewhat better than Medium
Vista HIGH Medium, (Just barely below Deluxe)
Vista Deluxe

Ride, I'm surprised you forgot Vista's just-announced $800 version to be released in October. Many Apple pundits charge that Microsoft wants to wreck the launch of Leopard with Gates' strongest competition to it ever.

1) October
2) here
3) Silver only
4) Even the lowest configuration will do. Unlike PCs, all Macs that are currently available shouldn't need replacing for about seven years.
5) Sorry, I've only got an iMac.

I went into the local apple store, and showed them a receipt that I had just got by registering for a class at a local college. They could have cared less they looked at it for about 3 secs and gave me the discount, so it shouldn't be that hard.
