My mac is VERY slow

I have a MacbookPro since 2008 with 2,53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Since I installed the last update it takes at least 10 minutes to open Lightroom and the same for Safari! Is that my processor is to old? thanks

2017 15" MBP, 16gig ram, 1TB SSD, OS 10.15
- When you say "last update"…what does this mean? What OS version did you upgrade from? What OS version did you upgrade to?
- How much ram does the computer have?
- How much free space on the hard drive (gigs used & gigs free)?
