My hotmail account and Mac's Mail app.

Is there a way to access my Hotmail account using the Mail application included in Mac OSX? I'd really hate to be stuck checking it on the website, and I don't want to fork anymore money to Microsloth for Office 2004.

I downloaded the plugin off of versiontracker for Tiger and set it all up. But when I say "get mail" in the application, it is unable to connect to the server. I don't really know why because when it checked the account when I was setting it up it said it could connect. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I know it's an obvious question but did you follow all the instructions exactly, as a lot of people who seem to not be able to get it working always miss something out.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I followed them correctly. It just isn't able to connect to my account. It's kind of annoying.

I think that I figured it out. Reading your hotmail mail through mail apps now requires a subscription of $19.95 a year. Apparently this goes for Outlook and Outlook Express so I would imagine that it goes for Mail too.

No you don't. I'm able to download/read/send mail from all 4 of my Hotmail accounts using Mail fine.

That upgrade BS is a money making scheme from Microsoft. If you've had an account since before 2004 you're allowed to do this, if you have a new Hotmail account then you can't.

That little program thing doesn't sound too great, from what I've heard it's really buggy and destablises Mail. I don't want hotmail in Mail that badly.
