My 15" MBP is being recalled!

Thats right for the second time it is being sent away in the Apple cardboard box to fix the over heating issues. This time they are going to replace the Logic Board, (first time it was the fans and DC-Inverter.) My serial starts with W86093 The Apple rep on the phone said that Apple have just recently decided to recall that one for repair.

Are there specific serials that need to be sent in/looked at. I'm just curious in case I need to send my in.

Apple is very good about posting recalls on the front page of their site at the bottom of the page.
As of yet, there is nothing posted on Apple's site about this or any other MacBook/MacBook Pro recalls.
The only recall in effect is this one:
https://depot.info.apple.com/batteryexchange/index.html?lang=en
So, the answer is no.

You should ask them to take some of the huge gobs of thermal paste off the Core Duo and apply the proper amount. :p

I wonder if mine gets just as hot as yours did...Mine is a W86082, so a few batches before yours was made right?

UPDATE!

Spoke to Apple yesterday, my MBP is still being repaired and hopefully will be back tomorrow of Friday. Not bad considered it was picked up on monday. There has been some crossed wires between the Apple engineers and the people at the call centre (in some foreign country, by the sounds of it.)

Chatting to the engineer yesterday who called to make sure that all the issues are to be addressed said:
We are replacing the Logic Board to fix the noise issue and not the heat issue.
The heat issue cannot be addressed and Apple clearly states that the MBP does get hot and can burn you.
And then e-mailed me the followign link:
http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n30612

There is no 'advertised' recall. However if you ring up and quote your serial it may fall into the batchs that will get new logic boards to fix the noise issue (moo) Even though mine didn't really moo.

I also asked the engineer about the paste issue. he said that changing the amount will not make a difference and could damage the machine, so they won't be doing that.

I have an 86222-with over-heating problems. First it was a Logic board-then the fan. They were unable to repair it. It was brand new. After a month they will send a new one-whether :eek:neye: this will be a happy experience or more frustration & confusion . I will find out

what did you have to do to get them to send a new one?
You have to have a problem with yours that they would deem worthy for replacement.
