My ols iMac 27inch has bit the dust(crashed totally) and has gone to the scrap yard minus the hard drive. I now have a brand spanking new 24inch iMac M4. When my old iMac crashed my music library was only left on my iphone and I would now like to transfer it to back my Mac. The library is a collection of purchased music, which was stored in purchased music and easily recovered, but the vast majority was from my CD collection and vinyl and probably numbers some 2000 tracks. I could spend a day or two adding them all back from my CD collection, but surely there must be a way to accomplish an easy transfer from iPnone to iMac. I have tried using some transfer software but maximum 50 tracks unless I pay is a bit useless. I have also tried other methods suggested in google but it only then want to transfer music from mac to phone which would result in wiping all the tracks off my phone. Any suggestions please.

On Mac, Senuti works wonders, but I haven't used it in years....

Can Finder sync the music from the iPhone to the Mac? Use a USB cable to connect them and see if there is a way to copy from the iPhone to the Mac. If Finder doesn't do that, maybe something like Imazing would do that?

@ OP - just finished a task using iMazing - follow the images below - I've annotated each one but easily transferred a playlist (which has 2 albums) from my iPad (connected to iMazing on my laptop via Wi-Fi) to a newly created folder in my Desktop - the app may have a free trial period (probably with restrictions), but is not that costly and can be used for other tasks, such as backing up your iDevices. Just one suggestion that works - Dave

Yep, Mazing definitely works for that task. I've done it myself but isn't there a one time method of syncing files from iPhone to Mac via USB? I'm sure there used to be although it seems like a long time ago.

And apparently iCloud as well. If the iPhone was synced to iCloud. "Additionally, you can use iCloud to transfer data from your iPhone to your Mac. By signing in to iCloud on your Mac, you can access and transfer your data, including photos, documents, and more."

Yes, Finder.
Not if the two devices have not been synced previously. Before iOS, and maybe iOS 1 and 2, it was possible. But DRM has been built into iOS that you would have to jailbreak the iPhone to have this ability.

Thanks for the info guys, I have tried iMazing, only 50 track allowed unless I pay quite a bit of £'s. The mad thing is if I connect my iPhone via cable to the Mac I can see all the tracks but not move or play them, however if I use iPhone mirroring I can play the tracks that way but still no transfer. iCloud will not back up music, that would be too easy, don't know if that's just a UK thing. Tried using finder and can only transfer tracks from the Mac to the phone which wipes out all the tracks on the phone. I have a feeling it's an Apple issue built in to stop easy transfer for copyright reasons.

I agree, but I have already paid when I bought the CD's and vinyl, not really fair to pat twice.

It's not their fault you didn't have a backup, for your personal use. If you broke the CD, you would have to buy a new one.

I have got a back up, it's called a drawer full of CD's and a box full of vinyls which will take a couple of days to do, I was just looking for an easier way. Thanks for the help though!

Jailbreaking is not required. Imazing will move them, as will other third-party apps. I think Finder used to, but I just tried it and it wants to sync one-way, to make the phone like the Mac. However, iCloud sync will definitely allow transfer through the cloud.

Time is money. So, do you want to spend time redoing it all, or spend money to get it done quickly? Imazing is a pretty useful tool to have, and the price (at least in dollars US) is under $50 for a year subscription that you can cancel any time before it renews.

Thanks everyone for their input, have now resolved the problem, my previous car and current car on their head units has USB connection and I remember downloading my music to a thumb drive. Managed to find it and have restored all my music.
