Did you accidentally copy your iTunes library to the desktop? In any event, before you try to remove that many files, it's best to backup your entire machine and especially your iTunes library. Also.... are you making backups using Time Machine? If you are, just restore your Mac to a time before the files were copied to the desktop.

I guess it too late but you could check and see if there's still an option in the Finder under Edit (menu) to "undo move to…" left showing.

If so, clicking that should put them all back where they came from.

Well It tells me it can't restore Desktop because it's needed by OSX, I never had to do any restorative moves on any of my Macs so I welcome any and all advice.
