Multiple Monitors / Laptop Dock

This is a two topic post. I've had no real luck finding an answer searching the existing threads.

1. Is it possible (even with a third party equipment purchase) to get a macbook or macbook pro to have a multiple monitor set up (I plan on not using the monitor on the actual laptop in this configuration)? Will this overload the processing abilities?

2. Which laptop dock is preferred? Why does it beat the others?

You would have to use a usb dock as there is no docking port in the mac laptops. As for multiple monitors you want something like this..
