MultiLingual and MacKeeper

I installed Multilingual at the suggestion of a photography colleague.

When I ran the suggested update after the install MacKeeper opened on my desktop!

I looked in my apps folder and lo and behold there it was!

***??? Does anyone know about this??? (running: Yosemite Sam X)

When you download & install apps from webpages…sometimes these webpages are so confusingly setup that a download for other apps can accidentally happen. My guess is when you downloaded "MultiLingual" (or maybe another app previously)…that MacKeeper was accidentally downloaded.

Various download webpages (not the original developers website) are notoriously confusingly setup for stuff like this to happen. Folks really need to be careful which "Download Now" buttons are pressed. Accidents can happen.

Thanks Nick...either way...deleted and uninstalled. Really don't trust that company.

Exactly what we would have suggested. Uninstall MacKeeper ASAP like you did!

Oh! And here's the funny thing...you know funny as it NOT funny...when I looked in the trash there was only that one item...when I did a secure delete (yeah, I really do not trust that company) there where almost 2,900 items to delete!

Any chance your downlod came from CNET or Softonic? They are 'adding' nasties to downloads and not advising the recipient. A form of adware marketing.
