I downloaded some movies and songs last night and they are in my "videos" folder. I'm trying to get them to my external HD but won't let me, any thoughts/ideas?

What's happening? Are you getting an error/changed cursor?

Are you able to copy the files to another location on your mac? Say the desktop?

How did you download them? Perhaps they are still in use by that app?

What file format does the external HD use? (You can find out using Get Info)

What version of OSX do you have?

OSX can natively just read NTFS drives. That's the problem.

But you can enable read/write in Snow Leopard (10.6). I can be done in Terminal but this is an easier way to do it NTFS Mounter

I'd use the download personally. You can end up in knots if you're not careful in terminal.

Just Google "activate NTFS read/write in snow leopard" There's loads of info out there. Use at your own risk etc tec

I don't want to copy and paste anything here and get it wrong. As I say I'd use NTFS mounter (as have several others on this forum).
